Director, SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting

We’re looking for a highly motivated Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our growing Accounting team. Reporting to our Vice President, Corporate Controller, you will oversee all aspects of external financial reporting and play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and quality of Zūm’s financial reporting. This role requires deep expertise in technical accounting and a thorough understanding of SEC regulations, and is instrumental in guiding our organization through complex financial matters.

This role is based at the Company’s headquarters in Redwood Shores, CA and requires you to be onsite 3x / week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday). Candidates must already be based in the Bay Area.

What You’ll Do

• Subject‑matter expert on US GAAP and SEC regulations for the preparation and filing of SEC reports, understanding related authoritative literature for public companies.
• Prepare technical accounting memos and analysis as needed.
• Lead the coordination and preparation of quarterly and year‑end external financial reports, including earnings releases, 10‑Q, 10‑K and related press releases.
• Prepare and / or review accounting entries and memos such as stock‑based compensation, warrants, EPS, equity roll‑forward, and cash‑flow statements.
• Lead technical accounting research and policy development for complex transactions (e.g., non‑standard equity, revenue recognition, leases, debt financing, consolidations, business combinations) and ensure documentation is audit‑ready.
• Own SOX controls in external reporting.
• Assist Investor Relations with investor engagement activities and financial performance materials.
• Provide technical accounting training to finance and accounting teams.
• Lead and inspire an impactful team with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the Company : auditors, Legal & Compliance, IT, HR, FP&A, Supply Chain, Engineering.

Compensation & Benefits

Target base salary : $208,000 – $250,000 (US, CA). Additional compensation may include bonus, equity, or commissions. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Holidays, Wellness, Vacation, and more.
