Job Description

1. Is able to apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology in obtaining adequate diagnostic exams.
2. Demonstrates competency in the age specific standards as defined for the department / unit.
3. Is able to recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies, has developed skills to practice in a safe clinical environment, knowledgeable CT safety and protection, has developed skills in contrast administration.
4. Prepares all imaging exams for reading to include correct demographic identification and assures that diagnosis matches procedure for correct billing.
Evaluates digital imaging for quality and accuracy of before releasing the patient.
5. Checks patients identification, questions the patient to obtain a clinical history or pre-existing condition.
Always questions female patients regarding pregnancy. He / She documents all relevant information in synapse notes.
6. Is able to keep the department running proficiently, regularly checks equipment, accessories and supplies.
Keeps area stocked at all times, cleans and disinfects equipment after each use; daily cleans exam room.
7. Knows the role of a CT Technologist as a member of the health care team and is able to function as a
competent and compassionate care giver.
8. Applies appropriate measures in order to minimize radiation exposure to self, patients, employees and others. Utilizes and abides by image gently and image wisely standards.
9. Efficiently and effectively provides procedure support for a variety of patient procedures, such as CT Guided Interventional Procedures.
10. Maintains appropriate licensure, registration and continuing education requirements.
11. Knowledge and function of Tele-radiography Systems
12. Responsible for all electronic documentation
Qualifications
1. The candidate has graduated from a formal radiography or equivalent training program as specified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
2. Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists and licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Health as a Radiologic Technologist
3. Flexibility to work overtime as needed as well as on-call duty when applicable.
4. Displays a good understanding of age-related developmental issues of pediatrics and geriatrics.
5. Maintains CPR Certification and Advanced Certification in Bone Density
