Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant works with office staff to assist in the care of patients and provision of support services. Primary duties include providing support for cardiologists' offices and various logistic duties. Medical Assistant has contact with patients on a regular basis. This position is an important member of the patient care team who uses acquired, office-based skills to assist providers and nursing personnel in maintaining efficient workflow to ensure safe, quality care with a patient centered approach focusing on continuity of patient care and satisfaction. Making independent clinical decisions is outside of the scope for this position. Refer clinical questions to the provider or nurse. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
Education Qualifications :
- Successfully completed first semester in an accredited nursing program. Required or
- Successfully completed a medical assistant or patient care technician program. Required or
- A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician may be substituted for the educational requirement. Required
Experience Qualifications :

Active certification to practice in Kansas as either Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician is required as a substitute for education qualifications. Greets patients, verifies identity and prepares for physician visit demonstrating excellent customer service skills.Accurately collects data such as weight, height, vital signs, patient history and medications and documents data in patient's EMR.Reports normal test results and confers with physician or nurse when needed and documents in EMR.Carries out orders, clarifies questionable orders with physician or nurse and properly documents in EMR.Cleans and prepares exam room for the next patient.Medication refills under the direction of the physician or APP with nursing supervision.Completes patient charges in an accurate and timely manner.Monitors equipment performance such as EKG machine and notifies manager of any malfunctions.Holter, MCOT, ECAT and Event monitor scheduling, monitoring of equipment, processing and billing.Inventories and orders supplies.Required for All Jobs :
