PURPOSE
The purpose of this job is to serve our Members, Customers and Co-workers.
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for helping to manage and execute the efforts to support the creation, commission, and curation of healthcare management content in publishing and professional development.
This includes proactively generating and responding to ideas for book and other content-related projects, acquiring new authors and faculty, evaluating content proposals, and shepherding content projects through the review, revision, and contracting processes.
ACHE is a hybrid work environment, requiring 2 days per week in our Chicago loop office.
JOB FUNCTIONS
Acquisitions Activities 55% of Time In collaboration with the Director of Content Strategy, partner with colleagues in the Learn and marketing team to execute a comprehensive content approach for education, books, and other content.
Acquires relevant and top quality faculty and authors to create programs and publishing materials to meet our learners’ needs and fill gaps in the healthcare leadership field.
Builds strong working relationships with faculty, authors, and other content providers to ensure successful content acquisitions, development, and delivery.
Assessment & Development Activities 30% of Time Negotiates contracts with potential subject matter experts, including authors, faculty, and third-party providers.
Serves as the primary liaison for ACHE’s publishing editorial boards across our academic and executive series. Design, develop, and maintain ACHE’s content library.
Oversees the peer review process for manuscripts and proposals, providing feedback to authors and subject matter experts to refine their work.
Planning Activities 10% of Time Serves on the ACHE Learn and publishing management teams. Under the direction of the Director of Content Strategy, meets with other managers and staff to review content acquisitions efforts and identify methods to recruit new authors and faculty Researches and recommends methods for improving acquisitions processes that will extend our reach and impact.
Participates in long-term planning and new product development
Other 5% of Time Oversees the process for obtaining the necessary agreements and permissions for content and borrowed material Ensures that completed manuscripts are received and oversees the process to obtain missing elements Collaborates with Editorial Production and Marketing to effectively promote books and other products.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Baccalaureate degree in healthcare administration, public health, or related field. Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years of healthcare-related education and / or publishing
- Prior content acquisitions experience strongly
- Must have strong written and verbal communication
- Must have strong customer service
- Must have strong team
- Must be computer
- Project management
- Ability to use word processing software (Microsoft Word).
