Currently there is one full-time vacancy in the Recreation and Senior Services (RSS) Department. The RSS Department is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of 11 facilities, 34 playgrounds, 58 outdoor sports courts and sports field amenities throughout the Newport Beach park system. This position actively engages in the RSS maintenance program to ensure safe and well-maintained facilities and parks for the use of the public. This position also provides support to the RSS Department's mission in offering quality recreational programs, events and services for people of all ages.

Selection Components :

• Application Evaluation : Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at 5 : 00 p.m. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an online exam.
• Online Exam : Tentatively scheduled for the week of November 24, 2025. Top-scoring applicants will be invited to a virtual interview.
• Virtual Interview : Tentatively scheduled for the week of December 1, 2025. Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future part-time vacancies as they occur.

Retirement : The City offers an excellent benefit package and membership in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). The Retirement formula is based on appointment date and membership status with CalPERS and the employee is required to contribute 8% or half the normal cost, whichever is higher, towards the retirement benefit.
