Overview
We are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to oversee health and safety across multiple construction and heavy civil projects. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with industry regulations and fostering a strong safety culture within the organization. The Role
The Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring workplace safety programs, policies, and procedures in line with OSHA and MSHA regulations. This individual will collaborate closely with project teams to proactively identify risks, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement in safety practices. Reporting to senior management, the Safety Manager will act as a trusted advisor on all matters relating to health and safety.
Responsibilities
Develop and manage safety and health programs, inspections, and training to ensure compliance with OSHA / MSHA standards.
Conduct site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe practices, or non-compliance issues and implement corrective measures.
Investigate incidents, near-misses, and health-related complaints to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
Provide safety orientations for new employees and ongoing training across the workforce.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety manuals, policies, training records, and compliance documentation.
Collaborate with project managers to institute control or remedial measures for hazardous conditions or equipment.
Coordinate emergency response plans and ensure appropriate equipment and supplies are maintained.
Perform routine audits of vehicles, equipment, and worksites for safety compliance.
Requirements
Proven experience in a safety management role within construction, mining, or heavy civil industries.
Strong knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations.
Familiarity with heavy equipment operation, site preparation, and road construction practices.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to train and engage teams.
Effective time management and ability to work under pressure in varied site conditions.
Nice to Have :
Experience with equipment maintenance and storage.
Background in surveying, layout, or site preparation techniques.
Professional safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST, or similar).
Salary

Columbia, South Carolina Based. Primarily a site-based role with travel across project locations. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
