What You'll Do : Tune Systems, Ignite Reliability

In this hands-on role, you'll orchestrate the heartbeat of our facilities, maintaining heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems with precision and pride. Expect a mix of routine checks and heroic interventions that keep our 14 diverse buildings (from skilled nursing to arts venues) running seamlessly. Core responsibilities include :

• Leading the HVAC & R maintenance program : Inspecting, repairing, and optimizing equipment to deliver safe, efficient environments for residents, staff, and guests—think flawless airflow in therapy rooms or crisp chill in our cafe.
• Executing oral and written assignments independently : Diagnosing issues on boilers, chillers, and units with limited oversight, adapting swiftly to seasonal surges or unexpected calls.
• Mastering time and tools : Prioritizing schedules amid campus-wide demands, operating power equipment safely across our lush grounds, and driving VMRC vehicles (with our full support for authorized drivers).
• Upholding excellence : Your vigilance turns potential chills into consistent comfort by reporting in uniform, documenting every tweak for compliance, and collaborating with our maintenance crew to prevent downtime.
• Innovating for impact : Proactively suggesting upgrades, like energy-efficient tweaks that honor our stewardship ethos, while ensuring every system whispers reliability rather than roars disruption.

Requirements :

High school diploma or equivalent, CFC Universal Certification, plus two years of experience in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning & refrigeration field.

Must be self-motivated and responsible to maintain the HVAC & R maintenance program.

Must have the ability to understand and carry out oral and written assignments; ability to perform the duties listed in the job description with limited supervision.

Self-motivated, able to schedule time wisely and accommodate changes.

Must have a pleasant personality, enjoy working with people, have good manners, and deal tactfully with others : excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.

Strong work ethic, fast learner.

Ability to work quickly, carefully, and safely, and to motivate others to do the same.

Physical demands : must be able to stand, walk, stoop, reach, lift, carry, or handle light-weight (1-25 lbs.) materials or equipment frequently.

Must be able to operate all power equipment throughout the VMRC campus safely.

Must report to work in uniform.

This position also requires an acceptable DMV driving record to obtain authorization on the VMRC-approved drivers list if driving a VMRC vehicle is needed.
