Job description

Director of Compensation- Charlotte

We are seeking a Director of Compensation to design, implement, and lead our company's compensation strategy during a period of exciting growth. This leader will ensure that our pay programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with business goals while also scalable as the company expands.

As part of the HR / Total Rewards leadership team, the Director of Compensation will partner with executives, HR business partners, and finance leaders to support talent attraction, retention, and motivation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compensation Strategy & Design
  • Develop and execute a scalable compensation strategy aligned with company growth and talent needs.
  • Ensure compensation programs are competitive with market benchmarks and aligned with business performance.
  • Program Leadership
  • Manage base pay, incentive programs, and equity plans.
  • Lead annual salary planning, bonus cycles, and merit reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and global regulations.
  • Market Analysis & Benchmarking
  • Conduct compensation surveys and market analysis to assess competitiveness.
  • Partner with Finance to model compensation structures and forecast costs.
  • Executive Compensation
  • Support executive pay design, equity programs, and board-level reporting.
  • Prepare materials for Compensation Committee review.
  • Partnership & Collaboration
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to design competitive offer packages.
  • Advise HRBPs and leaders on pay decisions, policy, and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Total Rewards, Benefits, and HR Operations to ensure alignment.
  • Systems & Process Excellence
  • Build processes, policies, and tools that support scale as the company grows.
  • Implement compensation systems, dashboards, and analytics for tracking and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business, or related field (Master's or CCP preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive compensation experience , with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record designing and scaling compensation programs in a growing or mid-sized company
  • Deep knowledge of compensation principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Experience with executive compensation and equity programs.
  • Strong analytical skills, financial modeling, and ability to tell a data-driven story.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with executives and boards.
