About Kids in Tech
Kids in Tech equips young people with the skills and confidence to succeed in a technology-driven world. Through engaging, hands-on STEAM programs, we help close the digital divide and inspire the next generation of innovators. We are working toward an ambitious goal : reaching 10,000 youth annually by 2028 through transformative learning experiences.
The Opportunity
Kids in Tech is at a pivotal growth point. Our reach is expanding, our team is evolving, and our systems must grow with us. We're looking for a Managing Director of Strategy & Operations who will serve as a senior organizational leader and trusted partner to the CEO-helping design, implement, and sustain the internal infrastructure that drives operational excellence and organizational alignment.
This leader will focus on strengthening internal systems, people, and performance, ensuring the organization runs smoothly and efficiently so the CEO can focus on external strategy, partnerships, and growth. You'll help connect strategic vision to day-to-day execution, building clarity, accountability, and cohesion across the organization.
What You'll Do
As Managing Director, you'll translate our organizational vision into actionable roadmaps with clear goals, timelines, and KPIs. You'll drive our annual and quarterly planning cycles, ensuring alignment across teams while overseeing progress on strategic priorities. When challenges emerge, you'll surface them quickly and drive resolution, maintaining visibility and accountability through organizational dashboards and systems that keep everyone moving in the same direction.
Your work with our people will be equally critical. You'll lead and refine systems for hiring, onboarding, performance management, and staff development. Through coaching, feedback, and accountability practices, you'll support managers and emerging leaders as they grow. You'll help build and reinforce a culture of inclusion, collaboration, and shared ownership-partnering with the CEO to ensure that our values are reflected in internal systems and team practices.
On the operations side, you'll oversee HR, program operations, and internal workflows to ensure consistency and scalability. You'll implement tools and processes that drive efficiency, data visibility, and decision-making. Risk management will also fall within your purview-you'll identify operational and organizational risks, then build frameworks for escalation and mitigation before small issues become big problems.
Communication and alignment are woven throughout this role. You'll ensure clear and consistent communication across leadership, staff, and board. You'll prepare internal updates, briefings, and decision-support materials that help the CEO and leadership team communicate priorities, track progress, and make informed decisions. During moments of change, growth, or ambiguity, you'll act as a "culture and clarity carrier" for the entire organization.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
The ideal Managing Director brings integrity and sound judgment to every decision, exercising discretion and maturity while staying grounded in our values. You have deep experience in people and culture leadership-you know how to hire, develop, and retain high-performing teams. Your operational excellence shows up in your ability to design and optimize internal systems and workflows that scale. You're a strategic thinker who can connect big-picture strategy to detailed, actionable plans. And you bring clarity, warmth, and credibility to every interaction, whether you're presenting to the board or coaching a new manager.
You Might Be a Great Fit If You...
You've helped scale a nonprofit or mission-driven organization during a period of growth, and you're known for bringing clarity, structure, and follow-through to complex environments. You thrive when coaching others and leading through systems and accountability. You're motivated by Kids in Tech's mission to empower 10,000 youth by 2028. And you lead with integrity, make thoughtful decisions, and value both excellence and equity.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this position is $95,000-$120,000, commensurate with experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, along with generous PTO and hybrid flexibility with a minimum of three days per week onsite.
