YOU

As the Production Supervisor, you will guide, direct and coach production employees to safely manufacture high quality products at a sufficiently high volume to meet production standards with minimal waste. You will provide work direction and leadership to production employees within the guidelines of standard work rules, union contract provisions and employment policies. Oversees day-to-day operations of production groups including making personnel changes and addressing performance, behavior and policy compliance. This position works a Monday - Thursday shift - 3 : 00 pm to 1 : 30 am. Friday and Saturday may be scheduled as needed to meet customer demand.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)

Plan and schedule production runs to meet customer and scheduling demands. Achieve production goals at the required level of quality. Communicate with staff to ensure smooth flow of information and product to achieve production goals. Communicate with Manager where necessary in order to modify and improve efficiency. Monitor production processes and proactively identify and address barriers. Trouble shoot and problem solve through root cause analysis. Communicate with other departments and help drive better working relations. (30%)

Lead, motivate and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and develop employees according to their unique interests and strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their career and performance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization. (30%)

Help in developing continuous improvement culture. Manage and train employees on Lean program. Measure and report results to Leadership on a regular basis. (20%)

Consistently exemplify the highest of safety standards and monitor others to the same standards. Coordinate with other departments to meet objectives. Ensure that all Simpson policies and procedures are adhered to by all teammates. Review and edit employee timecards. Approve and deny employee time off requests. Work with the Human Resources department for staffing needs and conduct first face-to-face interviews. Develop or modify training procedures and keep track of all training. (10%)

Monitor, manage and prioritize manufacturing and receiving activities to ensure goals are attained and standards met.Approve work orders, monitor back orders and manage on-site raw materials. Annual participation in inventories. (10%)

Other duties as requested.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too :

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or related experience and / or training; equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • College degree or technical school certificate in business is preferred.
  • 5 years of related manufacturing experience is required.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use calipers preferred.
  • 2 years of managing others is required.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods.
  • The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • The ability to monitor / assess your own performance and others to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to effectively use Word, Excel, and Outlook to carry out work required .
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • The ability to conduct tests and inspections of processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Knowledge of elimination of waste, continuous improvement, 5S, Kaizen, Quality Built In, JIT, Kanban, and leveled production.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications would be nice.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job may risk exposure to heat and / or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

TRAVEL

This position requires domestic and international travel up to 10% of the time.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, exempt position is located in Gallatin, TN.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$65,200 - $104,300 / year
