JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Name : Safety Manager

Reports to : Vice President of Business Operations

Classification : Full time / Exempt

Job Summary :

The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety and environmental health programs to ensure a safe working environment at the envelope and printing manufacturing facility. This role is accountable for compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations, as well as promoting a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Develop and implement safety programs, policies, and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.

Lead facility safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientations and ongoing training sessions.

Maintain and track safety-related documentation, including OSHA logs, incident reports, and training records.

Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.

Serve as the primary contact for safety-related issues and regulatory inspections.

Collaborate with plant leadership, supervisors, and employees to foster a proactive safety culture.

Lead the facilitys Safety Committee and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Monitor and report safety performance metrics; recommend and implement improvements.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory changes.

Education and Experience :

Bachelors degree in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.

5+ years of experience in manufacturing safety role, preferably in printing or paper converting environments.

Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.

Certifications such as CSP, ASP, or equivalent are a plus.

Proven ability to conduct training and communicate effectively at all organizational levels.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to lead safety initiatives and work collaboratively across departments.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software.

Physical Requirements : (Example Below)

The position requires regular walking through the manufacturing facility, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies and spend extended periods on the production floor.
