Global Trade Compliance Manager
Delta Air Lines, TechOps Division, is seeking a highly qualified and proven leader to join our team in the Logistics Operation in Atlanta, GA. This position is a fast-paced, leadership role that requires attention to detail and qualities of a servant leader, as you will lead teams from diverse backgrounds and have direct influence at different levels of scale frontline roles. The Global Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring TechOps compliance with global shipping requirements and standards.
This position is responsible for providing support to all TechOps regarding trade compliance. This position is also responsible for effective communication with all Business Partners to identify root causes of compliance failures and develop corrective actions as well as reporting. This position will have responsibility for the Transportation Management System (TMS) and Global Trade Services (GTS). In addition, the position will have oversight of international shipping programs and reports directly to the General Manager.
Summary of Responsibilities
Manages the activity of a 24 / 7 Tier 1 Logistics Operation in ATL. The necessary background or experience in global logistics, trade compliance, import-export regulation, Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) Export control, import drawback, Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Free Trade Zone (FTZ) program management, and government agencies regulatory compliance background. Responsible for supervision, direction, training, and development of Shift Managers, Frontline leaders and entry-level employees. Responsible for participating in hiring programs, scheduling (manpower and resources), and all associated administrative duties associated with managing Scale Frontline Employees. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Legal, Supply Chain Management, Delta Logistics Control Center and others) to integrate transportation and compliance requirements into business processes. Responsible for the timely evaluation of the leadership and frontline team, also providing feedback and coaching to frontline employees to promote an accountable culture. Responsible for maintaining compliance with departmental, corporate, and governmental regulations including but not limited to FAA, EPA, and OSHA regulations. As well as supporting developing, implementing, and managing global trade compliance programs, policies, and procedures to ensure adherence to U.S. and international trade laws (e.g., EAR, ITAR, OFAC, customs regulations). Support the implementation and optimization of transportation management and trade compliance tools and systems (e.g., SAP, TMS, GTS). Creates and manages continuous improvement initiatives to support a strong operational and financial performance related to transportation. Monitor and interpret changes in trade regulations and assess their impact on the business. Ensure timely updates to internal policies and training materials. Conduct transportation and trade compliance risk assessments. Identify gaps and implement corrective actions to mitigate compliance risks. Oversee the execution of export / import documentation, classification of goods (HTS, ECCN), and maintenance of accurate transportation documentation. Design and manage a duty drawback program to recover eligible duties, taxes, and fees on imported goods that are subsequently exported or destroyed, ensuring full compliance with customs regulations and maximizing financial recovery. Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure smooth and compliant trade operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have 5 or more years of experience in supply or inventory management or a related field. The necessary background or experience in global logistics, trade compliance, import-export regulation, Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) Export control, import drawback, Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Free Trade Zone (FTZ) program management, and government agencies regulatory compliance background. Strong Tech Ops knowledge of SAP (WM and EWM) required. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Requires considerable knowledge of Delta Technical Operations structure and operation with a strong understanding of the overall warehouse and logistics process and systems as it relates to procurement, receiving, inspection, storage, protection, packaging, issuing, shipping, and accounting practices. Previous experience in management that includes supervision of direct reports. Functions as a multitasking worker who is an effective team motivator - motivates employees to go above and beyond their regular job duties. Should be able to work under pressure and time constraints necessary to deliver material on time. Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data. Proficiency in analyzing and understanding technical manuals and documents. Monitors reliability, accountability, and welfare / wellbeing of their team unit. Maintaining a safe work environment, fixing or reporting any safety concerns promptly that exist in the work area. Must have the ability to promote and drive diversity and teamwork. Must be able to prioritize activities, workload, and manpower. Ability to learn and think on the fly, with high tolerance for stressful situations. Must represent the Delta brand both on and off the clock. Should be a team player, working well with multiple personality types with a focus on overall customer service. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Previous leadership experience is preferred, leading teams with multiple direct reports. Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data. Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles. Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency. Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
Trade Compliance and Tariff experience. Transportation Management System experience. Project Management Certification. Bachelor's degree in field of Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems Management, or related field.
