Senior Database Administrator

Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator / Engineer with a Top-Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility to lead our database management efforts across multiple platforms and environments. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration, high availability solutions, and cloud database technologies. This position requires strong technical expertise combined with leadership abilities to manage database infrastructure, optimize performance, and ensure data security compliance. This position is located in Washington, DC.

Position Description :

The Senior Database Administrator / Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems critical to our business operations. This role will involve managing Microsoft SQL Server environments, implementing high availability solutions, and supporting cloud database platforms. Principal responsibilities include :

• Design, install, configure, and support Microsoft SQL database servers and infrastructure
• Manage database administration tasks including backup and recovery strategies, security implementation, and user management
• Implement and maintain SQL Server high availability solutions including Always-On Availability Groups
• Optimize database performance through tuning, query optimization, and index management
• Install and manage database security features including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) and encryption in-transit
• Support cloud database platforms in AWS and Azure environments
• Develop and maintain SQL / T-SQL programming including stored procedures and automation scripts
• Provide technical leadership for junior database administrators
• Ensure compliance with security standards and implement STIG requirements
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for database systems and processes
