GENERAL DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a candidate with strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, effective communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset to work closely with all stakeholders involved in the loan process. An active MLO (Mortgage Loan Originator) license is required for this position. If you do not currently hold an MLO license, you will be expected to complete the necessary coursework and successfully pass the licensing exams after being hired
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Review applicant files, determining creditworthiness and establish qualifying loan amount
- Underwriting approval or denial : Must be able to recommend an approval or denial of applicant and provide written and verbal decision to support the decision
- Communication : Update manager with any red flags, discrepancies, and share updates throughout the entire process.
- Time Management - Complete assigned files within established time frame
- Documentation of processes & controls, Process and Improvements
QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in loan underwriting, credit analysis, or a related financial roleStrong understanding of creditworthiness criteria and loan qualification guidelinesAbility to assess financial documents and applicant information to determine loan eligibilityExcellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to recommend loan approval or denial confidently and accuratelyProficient in documenting decisions and communicating outcomes verbally and in writingStrong attention to detail, with the ability to identify discrepancies and potential red flags in applicant filesStrong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple files and meet deadlines consistentlyWorking knowledge of underwriting software and financial systems (preferred but not required)
