Principal Machine Learning Engineer

Barrington James is seeking a highly skilled individual with medical imaging expertise to join one of our key clients based in Florida as a Principal Data Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer, who are a global leader in medical device innovation.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in helping them leverage data-driven insights and cutting-edge technology to improve patient care.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (data engineers, domain experts, business leaders) to understand data quality, business needs, and technical requirements, with a specific focus on medical imaging data
• Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze, organize, and model medical imaging data sources
• Design, develop, and implement machine learning solutions for medical imaging tasks, ensuring efficiency, explainability, and scalability
• Conduct experiments, demonstrate feasibility, and deliver solutions that integrate seamlessly into clinical workflows utilizing medical imaging data
• Integrate analytics and machine learning tools with external partners, specifically those focused on medical imaging
• Translate complex medical imaging findings into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders
• Participate in model verification, deployment, and monitoring procedures specific to medical imaging applications
• Support quality system audits and champion best practices in data science, machine learning, and software development methodologies, with an emphasis on medical imaging best practices
• Identify and explore emerging technologies to support future opportunities in medical imaging and contribute to the team's knowledge base
• Oversee relevant publications in the field of machine learning, with a focus on medical imaging applications (publications in this area a plus)
• Experience with agile software development practices (Scrum, Kanban) is essential

Requirement

• Master's degree (or PhD preferred) in a relevant field (Statistics, Applied Math, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science) with a focus on machine learning method
• 9+ years of experience in data science or machine learning, with experience in the medical device industry and medical imaging analysis a plus
• Deep understanding of statistical techniques and proficiency in using programming languages (Python, R) and libraries for data analysis (exploration, cleaning, transformation, modeling) specific to medical imaging
• Broad expertise in machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and data engineering tools (Spark, Hadoop) for large-scale medical imaging data processing
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skill
• Passion for innovation and making a positive impact on healthcare, particularly through the application of machine learning to medical imaging
