A Gilbane skilled labor employee isa person with specialized knowledge, training, and experience to perform more complex physical or mental tasks than routine job functions.

Skilled labor is often specialized and may require a prolonged period of training and experience.Skilled labor performs basic building and construction related tasks.

These tasks may consist of work performed by specialty contractors like operators, glaziers, carpenters, sheet metal workers, brick, and block masons, painters, laborers, and others.

You will promote Gilbane's industry-recognized safety standards, coordinate the work of trade contractors, and participate in daily project meetings.

Responsibilities

Moving materials to the worksite and ensuring all tools, machinery, and other equipment are safely set up

• Operating equipment like screw guns, drills, pneumatic hammers, shovels, pikes, and other heavy machinery
• Assisting with various skilled trade installation procedures
• Obeying health and safety codes, as well as the company's principles
• Performing site and equipment inspections
• Attending meetings and workshops
• Completing on-the-job training
• Ensuring tasks are completed within deadlines

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

• High School diploma or GED
• 2+ years of construction experience
• OSHA 10 hour certified (we will assist with obtaining this certification if necessary)
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

QUALIFICATIONS

• In-depth understanding of construction principles and procedures
• Ability to read construction drawings
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to communicate and report effectively
• Strong critical thinking skills
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to travel

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Sit, stand, or walk
• Climb or balance
• Stoop, crouch, and step over obstacles
• Lift and / or move up to 50 lbs. using the buddy system
• Work in an outdoor condition that includes inclement weather, heat, and humidity
• Work in environment with dust, loud noise and / or vibrations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
