Job Summary / Description :
The General Sales Manager is responsible for the revenue goals of the television station. All areas of broadcast time and revenue are under his / her supervision (Local, Regional, Digital and Internet revenue).
The General Sales Manager oversees the Local Sales Manager, the sales staff and sales assistants. The GSM will be responsible for helping Account Executives implement the companys advertising platforms and marketing strategy, identifying and qualifying leads while consistently closing business in order to meet or exceed their sales quota.
The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following :
- Effective leader, able to motivate team members to be successful and develop future leaders for the station and the organization.
- Ability to delegate responsibly and hold people accountable effectively.
- Proven ability to foster a positive work environment and uphold the values of Gray TV.
- Must be a change agent who fosters and promotes organizational change.
- Must be results oriented with ability to achieve success through effective leadership.
- Must be keenly focused on all areas impacted by the business including shareholders, advertisers, viewers, and employees.
- Must be an effective communicator who can interact with individuals on every level, internally and externally.
- Must be knowledgeable about every component of the broadcast TV operation as well as the industry.
Qualification / Requirements :
- Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing or advertising. ? Must have experience in the advertising industry with strong management skills.
- Five years experience in broadcast sales or equivalent, with broadcast sales management experience.
