Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Employment Coach I, MFIP (Coach) is responsible for offering case management, employment coaching, and coordination of support services to a revolving caseload of participants in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP). The Coach provides MFIP participants with access to linguistically and culturally appropriate employment and support services, through the MFIP program, toward the goal of helping participants achieve self-sufficiency through employment. They will actively seek, build, and maintain relationships with community organizations and employers to successfully identify available resources, programs, and employment opportunities with the goals of barrier reduction and job placement. Not only will the Coach be responsible for helping participants with employment-related needs, but they will also help participants to address and overcome obstacles that prevent them from progressing towards economic stability.

Location : CLUES Minneapolis, MN Office

Position Type : Temporary

Schedule : Part-Time. Monday - Friday Office hours; Generally, 8 : 00am - 4 : 30pm.

Estimated Salary / Pay : $22.00 to $24.00 (depending on experience & qualifications).

Benefits : Temporary, Part-time employees receive all legally mandated benefits (such as worker's compensation insurance, Social Security, and mandatory sick and safe time accrual.

  • This position is temporary and generally expected to end on December 31, 2025.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Effective Case Management & Coaching

  • Provide effective case management and employment planning for individuals of diverse cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds who may have multiple barriers to employment.
  • Provide intensive one on one job search assistance to participants in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner. Services may include but are not limited to : Vocational assessments, development of detailed employment plans, job counseling, job readiness activities (resume writing, and interviewing skills etc.), job planning identification of job skills applications, training opportunities, job placement, job progression services, job retention support and follow-up.
  • Assist walk-in MFIP participants, when needed and appropriate.
  • Facilitate workshops designed to equip participants with job search tools that lead to successful job placement (including facilitating in client's language for bilingual Employment Coaches).
  • Work with Job Developer to develop employment opportunities, job internships, job shadowing opportunities, and other job experiences for program participants as well as develop and maintain relationships with employers.
  • Assess and implement changes that directly affect a participant's ability to obtain and maintain stable employment.
  • Provide CASAS testing to adults committed to attending ESL classes.
  • Provide participants with access to needed support services that address emergency, advocacy and information needs.
  • Conduct occasional home visits for participants (e.g., for Family Stabilization Services (FSS) clients) as needed.
  • Access and assess participant's financial information to better assist with job placement and economic advancement. May require referrals to other departments, programs, and services.
  • Documentation, Data Entry, and Reporting

  • Document participant's activities and progress achieved by using Workforce One and case notes.
  • Maintain organized, updated, and easy to follow case files.
  • Case note any participant contact within 24 hours of event.
  • Collect and maintain all necessary participant data and documentation in accordance with program requirements.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, agency policies and other applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports as required; follow-up to ensure the achievement of assigned program outcomes.
  • Promote integration of services within CLUES. Services may include, but are not limited to : Education, Income Supports, Financial Empowerment, Mental Health, Chemical Health, Community Health, and Family Services.
  • Regularly update supervisor and management on program statistics, as directed.
  • Other Job Duties

  • Promote the mission, operating values, and services of CLUES within the community.
  • Provide organization-wide support and carry out other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

    Education, Experience, and Key Abilities

  • Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of case management experience required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Somali, or Russian preferred.
  • Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certified a plus.
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals in a service-oriented environment required.
  • Demonstrated success in independently taking on tasks and working as a self-starter.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated accuracy with details.
  • Demonstrated commitment to high standards of quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers.
  • Ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external interactions.

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.
  • Language Skills

  • Effective communication in English, both verbally and in writing, required.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Somali, Russian, or Dari preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written materials, maintain accurate documentation, and respond appropriately to questions and requests.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Transportation

  • Must have a reliable motor vehicle for independent transportation, valid driver's license, proof of automotive insurance, and maintain a good driving record. Must submit to and pass annual recertification of compliance with CLUES Automobile and Transportation Policy and driving record check.
  • Computer Skills

  • Proficient with Windows-based word processing, spreadsheets, databases, e-mail and the Internet required.
  • Experience working with Workforce One, MAXIS, ECF, and MEC2 computer systems preferred.
  • Must be willing to attend training to advance technical skills and maintain appropriate skill levels to perform job duties.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS

    Background check

  • Must pass a criminal background check and driving record check. As a condition of continued employment, staff person may be required to submit to periodic re-verification of these background checks.
