This highly motivated individual, as part of the Production department, will be responsible for warehouse activities, including shipping & receiving and storing goods, ensuring efficient delivery, managing inventory levels, and supervising staff. You'll participate in developing and implementing key performance indicators (KPIs) and continuous improvement projects using lean manufacturing methodologies to enhance department efficiency, decrease costs, and surpass internal customer expectations.
This position is responsible for supervision of the production team.
This position reports to the President of Sentinel Hydrosolutions. This role is onsite and is based in Escondido, California.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES :
- Supervising staff and overseeing daily activities.
- Managing, evaluating, and reporting on all warehouse function productivity.
- Coordinating the receipt of supplier shipments, ensuring materials are stored in appropriate locations, and addressing any discrepancies.
- Ensuring adherence to the kitting schedule and monitoring stockouts, with a focus on timely backfilling.
- Efficiently shipping finished good to customers
- Implementing and maintaining KPIs to measure on-time delivery, inventory levels, and stockouts.
- Pulling parts orders and service kits, striving to improve OTIF (On-Time In-Full) performance.
- Ensuring accurate transaction processing in the ERP system.
- Resolving inventory discrepancies and conducting root cause analysis on inventory adjustments, implementing measures to maintain accuracy.
- Assisting in the implementation of Kanban and Supermarket systems.
- Conducting layered audits to promote safety and maintain 5S standards.
- Developing procedures for standard work and providing training to employees.
- Planning, promoting, and organizing department training activities to ensure employees receive appropriate job-related training.
- Communicate with customer service and sales on outbound orders
- Leading hiring, training, and performance management efforts for the warehouse team.
- Mentoring and developing warehouse team members for future roles and coverage during absences.
- Maintaining accurate records of warehouse activities and personnel hours, continually reviewing performance.
- Ensuring compliance with safety and hazmat standards and maintaining related records.
- Overseeing receiving and verifying freight against documentation, reporting discrepancies or damage.
- Providing direction and guidance to staff on vision, policies, and procedures.
- Tracking and reporting on key metrics, meeting all requisite performance targets.
- Identifying and eliminating redundant processes to streamline warehouse operations.
- Performing other duties as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS :
Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or a related fieldAPICS certification is highly desirable5+ years of relevant warehouse experiencePrior supervision or management experience is requiredBackground in working within a manufacturing environmentStrong organizational skills and attention to process detailProficient problem-solving abilities related to personnel and inventory managementExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated aptitude for providing exceptional customer serviceKnowledge of electronic devices, electrical systems, and plumbingProficiency with warehouse management systems (WMS) and MS Office Suite.Travel up to 10% required.MANAGEMENT / SUPERVISON :
Supervision of up to 20 employeesPerform annual performance appraisals on a timely basisEnsure company policies are followed.Enforce company safety policies.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and / or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must lift and / or move up to 25 pounds alone, 50 lbs. with assistance.
