Laboratory Technicians will play a key role in analyzing environmental samples, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and contributing to the integrity of our testing processes.
- Coordinate closely with members of the Sample Login team to receive samples from clients, sign chain of custody record and ensure proper handoff of control to Laboratory
- Check samples for thermal and chemical preservation
- Adjust chemical preservation as needed
- Record the preservation checks and adjustments
- Organize and maintain the sample storage areas so that sample location is known and easily accessible
- Dispose of samples
- Assist Sample Login team with organization and labeling of incoming samples
- Assist Laboratory Analysts with weighing, measuring and cleaning labware
- General housekeeping throughout the building
- Preparation of lab standards and reagents
- Calibration of instruments and support equipment to ensure accurate data gathering.
- Perform quality control and ensure results meet data quality objectives.
- Document all aspects of the analytical process to ensure complete audit / reconstruction of results.
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, troubleshooting and basic repair of laboratory instruments and support equipment.
- Maintain inventories of supplies, materials, chemicals and equipment. Submit order requisition requests for replacement supplies.
- Perform accurate and on-time preparation and analysis of samples according to approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Minimize re-analysis.
- Review laboratory data and enter results into LIMS.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
- Notify Department Supervisor and other pertinent individuals regarding status of work and delays
- Participate in meetings by being on-time, prepared and engaged.
- Assist in other areas of the company from time to time.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements : Education :
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field.
Experience / Qualifications :
Prior biochemical oxygen demand analysis experience strongly preferred1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting preferred, recent graduates with relevant coursework are encouraged to apply.Knowledge of environmental testing methods and laboratory practices.Proficiency in using laboratory instruments and software.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Problem-solving skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.Work Environment and Physical Demands
Regularly required to stand, walk, and lift items up to 25 lbs.
Exposure to chemical substances and occasional outdoor sample collection.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
