About Aalo Atomics
Aalo Atomics is pioneering a new era in clean energy with factory-fabricated microreactors designed to deliver affordable, scalable, and reliable nuclear power. Our mission is to make nuclear energy globally accessible, starting with the Aalo-1, a 10 MWe reactor leveraging cutting-edge safety, modularity, and efficiency. Based in Austin, TX, we're rapidly growing as we work to deploy the world's first fleet of advanced microreactors. Join us and help revolutionize energy for a sustainable future.
About the role :
As a Manufacturing Engineer at Aalo Atomics, you will help design and optimize the advanced production lines that build our modular nuclear reactors. You will work hands-on in the factory alongside technicians, welders, and other engineers to bring cutting-edge nuclear systems to life. This role blends process development, creative problem-solving, and direct build support to achieve high-rate, reliable, and efficient manufacturing for our DOE experimental reactor modules.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and optimize repeatable, high-speed fabrication processes for reactor components
- Collaborate closely with design engineers to improve product manufacturability
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement
- Create detailed work instructions and build documentation
- Set up and refine specialized high-rate factory stations
- Optimize tooling, material, and labor flow paths to increase efficiency
- Integrate electrical, piping, and structural components with innovative manufacturing techniques
- Support transition from prototype builds to high-volume production
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline1+ years of hands-on engineering experience (internship or academic project experience acceptable)Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skillsComfortable working in a dynamic, hands-on manufacturing environmentPreferred Experience :
Experience with welding, machining, or assembly of complex electromechanical systemsFamiliarity with high-rate or automated production line design and optimizationExposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologiesProven experience designing, building, or modifying challenging mechanical systemsExperience transitioning products from design to manufacturingExperience building metallic structures, ideally stainless steelParticipation in hands-on engineering competitions (e.g., Formula SAE, Baja SAE, RoboSub, Combat Robotics)Strong communication skills to convey technical reasoning and mission-critical messaging clearlyPhysical :
Comfortable working on the factory floor alongside technicians and weldersAbility to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periodsPhysical dexterity required for crouching, kneeling, and working in varied positionsAbility to focus and operate effectively in a loud, hot factory environmentWork Authorization : Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
