Manager, Fragrance Product Development.

The Fragrance Product Development Manager will be responsible for managing & executing the day-to-day product development process for the fragrance category.
This includes the Balm Dotcom property, fine fragrance, as well as ancillaries of all kinds. This person will collaborate closely with internal Marketing, Packaging, Project Management, Sourcing & Quality teams, as well as external fragrance houses & CMs to ensure that concepts are communicated clearly & executed according to Glossiers guidelines, targets & ethos.
This position will report into the Senior Manager of Fragrance Product Development. In addition to the Product Development responsibilities, this person will have a dotted line into our R&I team, spending up to 50% of their time supporting the R&I function through process management.
6 Month Expectations
Product Development
- Pick up & manage the development for 2024 & 2025 fragrance category launches
- Review fragrance submissions, providing olfactive informed & brand-right redirects, in close partnership with the Senior Manager of Fragrance Product Development
- Research & continue to develop expertise of the category & competitive landscape
- Initiate, write, & present cohesive & complete product briefs both internally & externally & partner with external vendors to execute against the product concept
- Support internal communication with cross-functional partners as it relates to product briefs, mod developments, fragrance positioning, copy & claims, & other deliverables
- Partner closely with PD, Packaging, Design, & Product Marketing to create a holistic product experience that engages Glossiers new & repeat consumers
- Manage critical dates to maintain timelines for launches, managing risks & understanding tradeoffs along the development process while delivering products with the highest standards for quality & performance
- Monitor & maintain on-time delivery of critical project milestones
- Successfully contribute to Glossiers external vendor relationships
- Maintain the R&I budget tracker
- Interface with testing centers to discuss testing needs, sample requirements, & project timing
- Manage the execution of project testing plans with the support of R&I lead, Product Development, & Regulatory
- Perform market research on impactful ingredient trends, technical developments, sustainability initiatives, & formulation charters
12+ Month Expectations
Product Development
- Become a Glossier in-house flavor & fragrance expert
- Partner with key stakeholders on the fragrance category strategy for 2026, following with product concepts that execute on that strategy, defining how they fit within the Glossier portfolio, point of difference on the market, & bringing innovation to the forefront of the concept
- Support marketing, sales, retail & customer support through formula dossiers, usage instructions, Q&As, etc. to ensure success of product in market
- Support international expansion activities, including evaluation / reforms for compliance, locally relevant claims, & registration
- Work with fragrance houses, raw material suppliers, CMs, community & other partners on an ongoing basis to identify innovation & opportunities to build new iconic / hero products
- Establish best practices for long term testing study tracking
- Work closely with R&I & PD to ensure the testing budget is spent strategically & on time
Qualifications
- 4+ years relevant work experience in fragrance product development
- Olfactively educated
- Experience building strong relationships with fragrance houses & olfactive experts
- Ability to present to small & large groups comfortably, including management
- Passionate about the fragrance, wellness & beauty industries, as well as pop culture at large
- Ability to manage multiple projects through strong prioritization & planning
- Ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Is a self-starter, able to take initiative, & work both independently & collaboratively
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication & presentation skills
- Is a team player, flexible & able to adapt to changes
- Ability to think both strategically & tactically with exceptional attention to detail
- Attend meetings internal & external as needed including but not limited to retailer presentations, trade shows, fragrance houses, labs, factories, etc.
- Domestic & international travel may be required
In accordance with the applicable law, the following represents a good faith estimate of the minimum & maximum compensation range for this position :
- The estimated annual pay range for this role is $100,000 - $130,000
- There may be future opportunities for continued pay progression based on continued strong performance in the role.

Compensation for the role will be determined based on permissible, non discriminatory factors such as a candidates qualifications, skills, & experience.
