Overview
Baseball - Head Coach - High School at Federal Way Public Schools. This role focuses on growth and development of student athletes with emphasis on academic and athletic excellence, leadership, and positive social relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- General : Professional development and leadership; responsibility for understanding and applying rules and regulations (WIAA, FWPS, league); promote the program within school and community; organize practice sessions; maintain safety training and basic athletic training knowledge; demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior.
- Administrative : Supervision of program participants; explain eligibility requirements and district rules; verify eligibility; manage accident / injury procedures and reporting; handle media communications and timely reporting of scores; attend required meetings; coordinate post-season events; support scheduling and facility / equipment safety; document program criteria for cuts and awards; conduct program evaluations and annual goal-setting with the athletic director; coordinate camps, clinics, and travel with proper approvals.
- Financial and Equipment : Manage equipment, supplies, and inventory; complete annual inventory; handle equipment turnover and laundering; prepare annual budget requests; coordinate fundraising with approvals.
- Other Responsibilities : Perform other duties as assigned to support student learning and program effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalentThree years of sport-specific playing and / or coaching experience in secondary / post-secondary athletics or related club coachingDemonstrated training in drills, safety factors, and skill applicationAdditional Requirements

Five or more years of paid high school and / or post-secondary sport-specific coaching or related club coaching experienceCompletion of the National Federation Coaching Fundamentals Course (including the test)Conditions of Employment

The role requires typical athletic coaching activities with physical demands including lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally; indoors / outdoors work with moderate to loud noise levels; reasonable accommodations available.
Work Schedule and Reporting
Variably scheduled according to sport season. Reports to and is evaluated by the Building Athletic Director.
