- The Portfolio Financial Analyst supports the Director of Property Management in maximizing the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of affordable housing properties.
- This role combines portfolio-level financial analysis, operational support, and system expertise to help property management achieve budget goals, ensure compliance, and improve efficiency.
- The Analyst serves as the department’s Yardi resource, assists with special projects, and develops cost-saving initiatives such as streamlining vendor contracts and processes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities :
Review monthly property operating statements and cash flow reports to identify variances from budget, trends, and potential risks Acts as the interdepartmental liaison between departments to assist with providing relevant financial data analyses and summaries Partner with property management, accounting, and asset management to resolve financial discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy Track key performance metrics (occupancy, rent collection, operating expenses, etc.) Assist with lender, investor, and regulatory reporting, ensuring timeliness and accuracy Assist in the preparation of annual property budgets and long-term capital needs projections Assists with collecting expense information used to create stabilized operating budgets for properties in the Development pipeline Processes property centralized invoices, as needed Assists Property Management Leadership with special projects as assigned Yardi Systems Support and Maintenance Serve as the property management Yardi specialist and liaison for system enhancements, implementation of new modules, troubleshooting, and user support Maintain data integrity and ensure consistent use of Yardi across the portfolio Prepare training manual, and provide training to staff who needs assistance in using Yardi Coordinate with Yardi Support Service in the development of custom reports to meet operational and financial reporting needs Perform other duties in relation to Yardi software.Special Projects & Process Improvement Lead and participate in special projects to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance operations Review and streamline vendor contracts to identify cost-saving opportunities and standardize procurement processes Partner with other departments to design and implement process improvements for property management operations, as needed Support technology adoption, system integrations, and workflow automation initiatives.Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and follow instructions with minimum supervision High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to create and interpret complex financial models Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead initiatives from concept to completion Ability to interface effectively with all members of staff Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work with, and sensitivity to, a diverse, low-income, multi-ethnic population Minimum Qualifications : High school-level algebra and statistics One year of system integration experience such as producing reports from cross-platform data Advanced MS Excel and Word experience Three years of work experience in a similar capacity Preferred Qualifications : Advanced knowledge of Property Management software systems (Yardi) Proficiency with Salesforce and Office 365 3+ years of financial analysis experience in property management, affordable housing, or real estate operations.Salary Range :
