Position Description - Petroleum Construction Project Estimator

Purpose of the Position
The Petroleum Construction Project Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for underground and aboveground storage tank construction and installation projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, materials, and regulatory requirements related to petroleum storage systems. The estimator ensures project feasibility by evaluating costs, collaborating with stakeholders, and maintaining industry compliance.
Essential Position Responsibilities
Physical activities : Typing on a keyboard; reading and verifying data, often in small print; sitting for up to 8 hours per day; talking on phone; may require visits to job sites resulting in exposure to hazards typical of a construction site
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) : Occasional utilization of steel-toed boots, gloves, safety vests, hard hat at site visits.

Minimum Education : Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Preferred Skill Set : Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction estimating, with specific experience in petroleum or storage tank construction highly preferred. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices related to storage tank installation. Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools. Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail. Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Familiarity with regulatory requirements for underground and aboveground storage tanks.
