Registered Nurse - Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU)

  • Location : Utica, NY, 13502
  • Duration : 13 week contract
  • Shift : 12-hr Nights
  • Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week
  • Weekly Pay Rate : $2,232 $2,412; (Negotiable based on experience)

Job Description (JD) :

The CTICU Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized nursing care to critically ill patients after cardiothoracic surgeries (fresh open-heart post-operative cases). The nurse is responsible for continuous assessment, monitoring, and management of patients on life-support and advanced cardiac equipment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Provide direct care to fresh post-op open-heart patients (e.g., CABG, valve replacement).
  • Manage ventilators, chest tubes, drips, invasive lines, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Monitor patient status and respond to changes quickly and accurately.
  • Administer medications and follow physician orders.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, providers, and ICU team to deliver critical care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC EMR.

    • Required Requirements :

  • Experience :

    • Minimum 2+ years RN experience in CTICU / Cardiothoracic ICU

  • Fresh heart experience is REQUIRED
  • Travel nurse experience required
  • Certifications :

    • ACLS (required)

  • BLS (required)
  • NIHSS (required)
  • System Experience :

    • EPIC required

  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced critical care environment.

    • Travel Rule :

  • 75-mile radius rule.
  • Local pay rates will apply to candidates residing within 75 miles.
