Overview
The Test Engineer will work remotely and closely with the Appian development team and business analysts to write and execute automated test cases for Appian applications. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in software testing, experience with automated testing tools, and a good understanding of Appian or other Business Process Management (BPM) platforms. This role requires excellent analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Appian development team and business analysts to understand application requirements and functionality.
- Participate in the development of test plans and strategies to ensure effective testing of Appian applications.
- Identify and prioritize test cases based on risk and impact.
- Ensure that testing activities are aligned with project timelines and deliverables.
- Execute automated test cases and analyze the results to identify defects and issues.
- Document and report defects, working closely with the development team to resolve them.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and project managers, to ensure alignment and effective communication.
Competencies
Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.Experience with automated testing tools (e.g., Fitnesse, Selenium, Junit).Familiarity with Appian or other BPM platforms.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to identify, document, and track defects effectively.Attention to detail and accuracy in testing and reporting.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.Ability to navigate BA Workflow, Agile Scrum, and Project Management tools (Jira, MS Project, Visio, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Business Process / Rules repositories).Proven understanding and application of Waterfall, Agile Scrum, and Kanban software development methodologies.Job Requirements
US Citizenship - candidates being considered for Public Sector roles must be a U.S. citizen.Has more than 5 years of experience and a BA / BS or MA / MS degree.Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.2-4 years of experience in software testing, including experience with automated testing.Familiarity with Appian or other BPM platforms.Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB) is a plus.Work Environment
This is a remote role with a preference for candidates based in Dayton, OH or the DC area. Occasional travel may be required for team meetings and training. The role requires collaboration with teams across different departments and locations.
Salary : $60,000 - $64,000 a year
