INDUSTRY : Oil & Gas, Water Sourcing, Water Transfer Service Company
CONTEXT : Seeking a Landman / Water Resource Specialist that has knowledge of Texas permitting requirements, as well as experience negotiating and securing contracts related to O&G water resource management.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Frequent interaction and coordinate with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), State Land Office (SLO), and private landowners as required to support project requirements.
- Develop and maintain excellent landowner relationships
- Coordinate with various local, state, and federal regulatory entities as required to support project requirements
- Acquire and dispose of surface tracts as needed
- Appraise and negotiate monetary settlements regarding surface damage
- Apply appropriate company environmental, health and safety policies and principles when performing job duties
- Manage complaints, and resolve grievances that may arise during surface related business activities
- Research title and tax records as needed
- Landowner negotiations for temporary access
- Utilize Google Earth to map potential routes, clients and sources
- Read and analyze USGS topographic maps
- Record sales, transfer volumes, and other activities in an organized and efficient manner to meet internal and regulatory requirements
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- 5+ years of relevant experience as a surface landman, right of way agent, or similar role
- Water Resource education, related field experience or Landman background
- 1-2 years’ experience in water related operations
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work well with peers, surface owners, governmental entities, and other inside and outside stakeholders
- Ability to anticipate project needs and proactively meet them
- Strong organization, task prioritizing, and record keeping skills / habits
- Advanced knowledge of Surface Use, Water Use, and Easement agreements
- Ability to understand and analyze contract provisions
- Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
