Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI is looking for a motivated Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with a strong interest in public and private land development engineering to join our Site / Civil team in Sparks, MD. This opportunity is intended for Spring 2026 graduates, with the position starting in Summer 2026.

Responsibilities :

Support engineering design for commercial, residential, and institutional land development projects

• Perform site layout, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and erosion / sediment control calculations
• Prepare construction documents, plans, and technical specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Assist with local, state, and federal permitting processes (MDE, SHA, county-level agencies)
• Conduct site visits and prepare field observation and construction administration reports associated with Site Development
• Collaborate with team members to prepare project schedules and cost estimates
