Job Overview
Prepare railcars for shipment such as : opening and closing railcar doors, setting bridge plates, blowing trash out of railcars, chocking vehicles, chock replacement.
Responsibilities and Duties
A good fit for this position has a safe driving record, valid driver’s license, and excellent work history. To join our team, you are ready and able to :
Drive standard and automatic transmissions vehicles into tight spaces
Walk and stand for much of your day
Demonstrates the ability to carry out specified work procedures and follows directions of supervisors and lead persons.
Must be a self-starter with the ability to perform in high pressure and dynamic situations while working in a team environment.
Work in all weather conditions; extreme hot and cold, rain, snow, etc.
Performing daily inspections on bridge plates and chocks.
Loading and unloading vehicles onto railcars in compliance with company quality standards.
Ensure vehicles are spotted according to customer standards within the rail car.
Ensure vehicles are properly spaced within the rail and secure vehicles according to customer standards onto outbound railcars.
Lubing the railcars, graphite door tracks and other moving mechanical parts. etc.
Must meet all WWL VSA quality and productivity standards.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
Requires the ability to raise floating railcar decks, from shoulder position to overhead position (minimum 80 lbs up to 100 lbs.
and set bridge plates overhead (up to 45 lbs.) for long periods of time).
Frequent bending and stooping while inside rail cars, and good balance.
Job Specifics
$20.50 Hourly TempToHire
Day shift hours are 6am-2 : 30pm + OT (usually work no later than 6pm) M-F + any weekend OT (mandatory)
Grey or Black solid T-shirt, Black pant / shorts - No exposed metal. Comfortable Shoes foot totally enclosed / Rail Loaders MUST have steel toed boots.
Shirts must have a 4 sleeves and be long enough to be always tucked in.
PPE Required and provided by customer.
