Job description

Overview

Jr. Service Engineer role at Birdi Systems, Inc. This entry-level engineering role bridges IT and security operations, requiring both technical acumen and client-facing communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across multiple OSI layers (cabling, networking, software, and user issues).
  • Maintain and repair physical infrastructure (power, cabling, devices) and ensure system reliability and safety.
  • Configure and troubleshoot IP networks (switches, VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewalls).
  • Support and update software platforms such as VMS, access control, and alarm monitoring systems.
  • Monitor system performance, analyze logs / alerts, and recommend preventive measures.
  • Respond to service calls, conduct preventive maintenance, and provide timely, accurate documentation.
  • Act as a client-facing engineer : explain technical issues clearly, deliver solutions, and escalate complex problems when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and security standards, as well as industry codes.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, participate in training / certifications, and share best practices with the team.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers, project teams, and provide mentorship support to junior staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience (internships or co-ops acceptable).
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (IP, VLANs, routing, TCP / UDP protocols).
  • Familiarity with security systems (CCTV, access control, fire / life safety) a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-focused approach.
