Executive Opportunity : Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Gleaners Food Bank (Indiana)

We are a leading Midwest-based recruiting firm proudly partnering with our client, Gleaners Food Bank in Indiana—an organization recognized as an Inc. Best Workplace—to find a highly qualified candidate for the pivotal role of Chief Financial Officer.

This role requires a strong, focused, and skilled CFO who is also a collaborative, high‑impact teammate. Your mission will center on :

  • Team & Structure : You report directly to the President & CEO and are one of six members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). You will lead and mentor the existing finance staff, partnering closely with the Director of Finance on day‑to‑day operations while you focus on strategic governance and long‑range planning.

  • Tools & Technology : You should be proficient in modern ERP and accounting software, payroll systems, and the Microsoft Suite to ensure seamless financial operations and advanced reporting.

    • Core Responsibilities

    As the lead financial steward, you will oversee all financial matters, providing high‑level strategic oversight and active management of core functions :

  • Financial Strategy & Leadership : Deliver timely, accurate fiscal analysis to the CEO and Board. Lead the evaluation of long‑range planning and the financial impact of new programs and revenue streams.
  • Fiduciary Oversight : Act as the primary liaison to external partners (auditors, banks, investment managers). Oversee policy development, internal controls, compliance (including IRS Form 990), and manage all annual audit processes.
  • Budgeting & Cash Management : Drive the annual budgeting process, provide ongoing forecasting, and expertly manage cash‑flow projection, treasury activity, and capital‑expenditure planning.
  • People & Team Development : Provide coaching, training, and evaluation for direct reports, fostering a positive, accountable, and collaborative work environment.

    • Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience : Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; a Master’s and / or CPA is desired but not required. You must have significant high‑level accounting, finance, or business management experience with demonstrated supervisory expertise.
  • Skills : Deep knowledge of enterprise‑level financial systems, inventory process flow, and accounting practices. Exceptional leadership, relationship‑development, and strategic‑thinking skills are essential. A valid driver's license and insurability are required.
