Overview

Join the Infrastructure Operations team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Data Center Operations Technician. We are looking for talented individuals to address and resolve a variety of data center infrastructure challenges including hardware, fiber, networking, and other related issues.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Center Operations Technician, you will engage in essential physical data center activities, which may involve :

  • Lifting and moving materials weighing up to 49 pounds.
  • Working in confined or elevated areas.
  • Performing tasks that require bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of up to 8+ hours each day.
  • Safely ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways.
  • Operating in a noisy environment.
  • Working shifts that may exceed 8 hours to support 24 / 7 operations, including nights and weekends.

A Day in the Life

As a Data Center Operations Technician, you will leverage your strong technical and troubleshooting abilities. Your daily tasks may include :

  • Taking ownership of technical issues from customers and collaborating with other teams for resolution.
  • Diligently troubleshooting and solving problems.
  • Addressing issues at their core while understanding the broader implications.
  • Ensuring compliance with service level agreements through proactive monitoring and reporting.
  • Actively seeking improvements and innovations in processes.
  • Working at one of several sites, which may involve varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • About The Team

    The AWS Infrastructure Services team is responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. This includes supporting AWS data centers along with servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure our customers have continuous access to essential services. You'll work alongside a diverse team of professionals, including software and hardware engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers.

    Basic Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience with Windows Server technologies.
  • 1 year of experience with Linux operating systems.
  • An Associate’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional / military experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field, or equivalent professional / military experience.
  • Networking certification such as CCNA, CND, GSEC, Network+, or Security+.
  • Prior experience in a data center environment, including rack management and cable organization.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware platforms, such as Dell or HP, is advantageous.
  • Active Security+ certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of start date.

    The compensation for this role reflects the labor cost within various U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $81,300 to $142,300 annually in Colorado, and from $73,200 to $163,600 nationally, depending on experience and location.
