Job description

GridPower Solutions is seeking a Project Design Associate - EBOS to support the design and takeoff process for the DC side of utility-scale solar projects. This role involves analyzing plan sets, calculating EBOS component needs, maintaining BOM documentation, and supporting the quoting process. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, familiar with PV system design, and capable of collaborating across engineering and procurement functions.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform accurate EBOS takeoffs based on client plan sets and specifications.
  • Analyze layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and component data sheets to calculate quantities and lengths for string conductors, harnesses, IPCs, trunk bus, combiner boxes, and disconnects.
  • Populate and maintain Excel-based takeoff templates and BOM (Bill of Materials) sheets.
  • Identify and flag missing or inconsistent plan set information; coordinate internally to resolve.
  • Recommend design or product changes that improve cost-effectiveness or field efficiency.
  • Maintain organized records of project inputs, outputs, and version history.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal design tools, templates, and documentation processes.

Requirements :

  • 2+ years of experience in solar design, takeoffs, estimating, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in interpreting construction plan sets, electrical diagrams, and site layouts.
  • Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas and structured BOM formatting.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or PDF markup tools such as Bluebeam or Adobe Acrobat.
  • Understanding of PV system architecture and DC-side EBOS components.
  • High attention to detail, consistency, and documentation quality.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience in utility-scale or large commercial PV projects.
  • Knowledge of NEC guidelines related to wire sizing, ampacity, and voltage drop.
  • Exposure to kitting, logistics, or packaging of EBOS materials.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, or quoting / configuration tools.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required infrequently.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
