Med / Surg RN Job Details – Harrisburg, PA

Location : Harrisburg, PA 17101 – Explore riverfront parks, a thriving arts scene, and historic sites in this welcoming Pennsylvania community.

Assignment Length : 13 weeks

Healthcare Setting : Medical-Surgical (Med / Surg) Unit

Employment Type : Travel Registered Nurse

Shift : 12-hour day shifts

Hours per Week : 36

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1,720 - $1,840

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Pennsylvania or compact state

BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)

ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)

Minimum 2 years of recent bedside clinical experience in a Med / Surg or ICU setting

ICU experience required

Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills

Ability to supervise and mentor LPNs, CNAs, and orientees

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission

Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record

Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and deliver direct patient care using the nursing process

Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission

Communicate changes in patient status to care team members to ensure continuity and safety

Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary nursing personnel, including LPNs and CNAs

Promote a safe environment by adhering to hospital safety policies and procedures

Contribute to a positive team environment and participate in unit team-building activities

Maintain professional growth through continuing education and self-study
