Auto Lending Domain Consultant
Must Have Technical / Functional Skills
12+ years of experience in the auto finance industry, specifically in roles like Business Analyst, Product Manager, Underwriter, or a similar consulting role.
In-depth knowledge of auto loan products (new, used, refinance, lease), credit lifecycle management, and dealer-facing finance operations.
Proven experience working with and implementing Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and / or loan servicing platforms specific to auto lending. Proficiency in data analysis and process modeling tools.
Experience in digital lending transformation projects.
Experience with advanced analytics, reporting, and business intelligence in the lending space.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for the end-to-end auto lending lifecycle, including Loan Origination Systems (LOS), underwriting (direct and indirect), credit risk assessment, loan servicing, compliance, and collections.
- Conduct detailed current-state ("as-is") analysis and define future-state ("to-be") processes for auto lending operations.
- Gather, analyze, document, and manage functional and non-functional requirements for technology solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Lead workshops and interviews with business stakeholders to elicit detailed requirements for system changes, product launches, or digital transformations.
- Create clear, concise documentation, including Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), functional specifications, use cases, and process flow diagrams.
Solution Consulting & Project Delivery
Collaborate with IT and development teams to translate business requirements into technical designs and scalable solutions.Evaluate, recommend, and configure industry-leading Auto LOS and loan servicing platforms (e.g., DealerTrack, defi SOLUTIONS, Black Knight, etc.) or internal proprietary systems.Identify opportunities for process automation, efficiency improvements, and cost reduction within the lending domain.Assist in developing and executing comprehensive test plans (UAT, integration testing) to ensure solutions meet business requirements and operate as expected.Support change management activities, including training, communication, and deployment to business users.Maintain a deep and current understanding of federal and state regulations impacting auto lending, such as TILA, ECOA, FCRA, and F&I regulations.Ensure all new processes and system enhancements are designed and implemented in full compliance with legal and regulatory mandates.Work with Risk and Compliance teams to assess potential impacts of regulatory changes and translate them into actionable system or process requirements.
