Job Title : | Electrical Engineer
Reports To : | Engineering Manager
Summary :
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting electrical systems and components for pontoon boats. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient electrical installations that meet industry standards, customer expectations, and company quality goals. The Electrical Engineer will collaborate closely with design, production, and quality teams to integrate electrical systems into new and existing boat models. This position requires strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production environments.
Responsibilities :
Electrical Design & DevelopmentDesign, develop, and validate electrical systems including harnesses, panels, battery layouts, lighting, gauges, controls, and navigation electronics.
Maintain accurate wiring diagrams, schematics, and documentation for production and service teams.Assist in new product development, prototype builds, and validation testing of electrical systems.Production & Technical SupportProvide technical guidance, troubleshooting, and process improvements to support electrical installations in production.
Conduct root cause analysis to resolve electrical issues related to performance, safety, or durability.Provide training and technical support to assembly, service, and quality teams as needed.Supplier & Compliance CoordinationCollaborate with purchasing and suppliers to source electrical components.
Ensure compliance with specifications, marine standards, and regulatory requirements (ABYC, NMMA, Coast Guard, etc.).Continuous ImprovementLead projects to improve reliability, efficiency, and standardization of electrical systems.
Implement design changes to enhance system safety, durability, and serviceability.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) :
Electrical System Reliability : Percentage of systems passing validation and production tests without failure or rework.Compliance & Safety : Adherence to ABYC, NMMA, and Coast Guard standards with zero compliance violations.Continuous Improvement Impact : Number and effectiveness of implemented design or process improvements.Other duties :

Competencies :

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.3-5 years of electrical design or engineering experience.Preferred education and experience :
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related technical field.2+ years of electrical design or engineering experience in boat manufacturing, marine, automotive, or powersports industry preferred.Supervisory Responsibilities :
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position.Physical Demands :
Ability to work in both office and production floor environments.Ability to safely climb in and out of boats.Ability to lift up to 25lbs occasionally.Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.Work environment :
Standard manufacturing and engineering office environment.Work may involve exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations on the production floor. All necessary PPE will be provided.Occasional travel to suppliers, test sites, or industry events may be required.Travel Requirements :
