The Role
The Director of Tax will be responsible for the ownership and execution over all elements of our tax accounting, reporting and compliance processes through the impending years of growth and scaling of the organization. Our tax accounting, reporting and compliance matters are critical to our business and require substantial focus and demonstrated expertise. The ideal candidate is one who has a strong partnership and collaboration mindset, brings demonstrated technical expertise and is driven to help the organization solve problems and enable growth in a variety of areas and jurisdictions. The candidate must have experience in various elements of the tax function of a private equity owned tax payer, including experience with debt and tax carveouts. The position will report to the Vice President, Controller and initially will be an individual contributor who will support the businesss continued expansion domestically and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Oversee tax compliance including U.S. federal, state and international tax compliance process, including indirect taxes, R&D and foreign tax credits, VAT matters and expense allocations
- Partner with the outside consultants, to advise on global projects, review tax opportunities, develop forecasts and optimize tax department operations
- Be the technical leader on all tax accounting matters
- Lead tax due diligence and structuring for mergers and acquisitions
- Manage federal, state, and local tax audits
- Maintain knowledge of current and proposed tax laws and analyze their impact on the Company
- Research technical tax matters and prepare documentation to support tax positions
- Support strategic tax planning, identify, recommend, and implement policies, procedures and best practices
- Continuously monitor and proactively identify and obtain tax incentives for the company.
- The Tax Director is responsible for defining tax policies, developing tax strategies and implementing tax processes and procedures
- This position is an individual contributor role who will work with 3rd party service providers to design the optimum corporate tax structure most suitable for the Company's long-range business model and plan that would provide the long-term tax benefit for the Corporation which will include in person collaboration with auditors and others
- The Tax Director also works with various internal and external teams including Legal, Product, FP&A, and the Accounting teams to explore, identify, apply and / or implement various tax initiatives
Desired Skills & Experience
Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a combination of Big 4 public accounting and industry experienceCPA license required (Big4 experience preferred); Masters in Tax or JD preferredThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience with tax accounting and reporting under ASC 740 for a US-based multi-national corporationUnderstand tax treatment for debt including interest expense deductions / limitationsWorking for a private equity portfolio company including experience with tax carve outsExperience with tax accounting and reporting under US GAAP in multinational context, including accounting for uncertain tax positionsExperience with US federal and state corporate tax and Sales tax complianceStrong analytical thinking and writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environmentProven ability to conduct thorough tax researchAbility to balance strategic thinking with operational leadershipStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience in a fast moving, high growth environment with ability to react quickly to unexpected challenges and opportunitiesGood business sense and ability to generate insightful analysisStrong oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate complex subject matter to leadership, peers and other levels in the company without a tax backgroundExtremely well organized and able to manage work requirements to meet reporting deadlinesAbility to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentBase Compensation Range
$210,000 - $250,000 annually
Base salary is one component of total compensation. Employees may also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity or commission. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay.
The above represents the expected base compensation range for this job requisition. Ultimately, in determining your pay, we'll consider many factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
