Accounting Manager
Our client, a well-established non-profit in Arlington, VA (moving to DC in the first quarter of 2026) is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join their accounting team. This hybrid position (3 days / week in the office) offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage critical accounting functions while contributing to the financial health of the non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in nonprofit accounting and demonstrate exceptional organizational and analytical capabilities.
Responsibilities :
- Oversee the monthly accounting cycle, ensuring all processes are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare and review journal entries to maintain precise financial records.
- Conduct and supervise bank reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.
- Collaborate with various departments to support financial reporting and compliance initiatives.
- Utilize Sage Intacct to manage accounting operations efficiently.
- Ensure adherence to accounting principles and regulatory standards.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize accounting workflows and processes.
- Support audit preparation and assist in responding to external auditors.
The ideal candidate for this Accounting Manager role will have a BS in Accounting or Finance, 5+ years of hands-on day to day non-profit accounting and must know Sage Intacct accounting software. This role is 3 days / week in the office in Arlington and will move to 1-2 days / week in the office in DC when they move in the first quarter of 2026. Compensation range for this role is 100-110K in base salary plus full benefits.
Requirements :
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting.Proficiency in using Sage Intacct.Strong understanding of general ledger management and journal entry preparation.Demonstrated expertise in account reconciliation and financial statement preparation.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively.Certification such as CPA or equivalent is preferred.
