A Peer Recovery Coach is a person who fulfills a unique role in the support and recovery of Arcadia Trails patients. Works alongside individuals in recovery to build rapport and develop relationships, offers emotional encouragement and practical assistance during treatment, and provides guidance and information on community resources.

Serves as a liaison with the clinical staff. Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Incumbents in this position may be required to float to other units / floors and to take call.

The Peer Recovery Coach responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Assists with the admission / intake process under supervision of administration or clinical staff
  • Facilitates experiential recovery groups reinforcing BRAIN lectures
  • Assists patients with assigned schedules, therapy groups, recreation, and community outings
  • Spends individual time with each assigned patient on a daily basis helping patients attain treatment goals
  • Meets weekly with the clinical director to discuss patient care, progress, and observations
  • Documents patient information in EMR for assigned patients
  • Utilizes accepted intervention, under the direction of the RN, Director Clinical Services, or Administrator in dealing with problematic patient behaviors (., therapeutic holds)
  • Makes patient rounds as prescribed by unit policy and / or patient needs
  • Works in collaboration with clinical staff for the best interests of the individual recovery process
  • Provides discharge planning in collaboration with therapist and completes discharge summary documentation
  • Assists in preparation of treatment plans with therapist
  • Serves as a liaison with community volunteers in recovery and community support groups that occur at Arcadia Trails The Peer Recovery Coach reports to the Clinical Director.

Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals, such as alcohol, betadine, cudex, STAT 3, Clorox, Medi Sol, hexacloraphene, cidex, etc.

and needle sticks. Potential for bodily injury related to lifting and incidents of workplace violence. Must follow universal safety precautions.

Exposed to constant interruptions, noise, disagreeable odors, and assorted chemicals. May float to other units. May need to withstand outside temperatures for extended periods during outings.

May have contact with an adult age 18 or older who may exhibit physical, behavioral outbursts related to addiction, mental health condition, or prior life trauma.

  • Knowledge of the 12-step recovery program
  • Has received and passed 40 hours of training from the OSDMHSAS Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (C-PRSS). If not currently certified, must obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • 5 years of experience working with individuals in recovery from addiction preferred
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal / written)
  • This job may require the incumbent to operate an INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and therefore must have a current Drivers License from the state of residence, as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrier.
