Position : Litigation Paralegal –Insurance Defense
Location : Onsite – New York, NY (Near Union Square)
Start Date : ASAP
Pay Rate : $50+ / hour
Duration : 6+ months (potential for extension)
Schedule : Monday–Friday, Standard Business Hours (40 hours / week)
Note : Attorneys will not be considered for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide end-to-end litigation support for insurance defense cases.
- Draft and respond to interrogatories , legal memoranda , motions , and briefs with precision and strategic insight.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research to support case development, defense strategies, and regulatory filings.
- Manage discovery , including document production, deposition preparation, and tracking deadlines.
- Prepare pre-filing documentation , organize case files, and assist attorneys with trial preparation.
- Support rate cases before the Public Service Commission (PSC) , including compiling evidence, drafting filings, and coordinating with internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with attorneys and provide paralegal support to an additional manager within the legal team.
Research & Writing Expertise
This role requires advanced legal research and writing skills , particularly in the context of insurance defense and regulatory matters.
The ideal candidate will :
Utilize legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) to identify relevant case law, statutes, and administrative codes.Draft persuasive and well-organized legal documents that reflect a deep understanding of insurance defense litigation.Analyze complex legal issues and synthesize findings into clear, actionable recommendations.Maintain consistency, accuracy, and professionalism in all written communications.Adapt writing style to suit different audiences, including attorneys, regulators, and internal stakeholders.Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.Extensive experience as a Litigation Paralegal , with a strong focus on Insurance Defense .Demonstrated expertise in interrogatory responses , discovery management , and legal writing .Professional, polished, and detail oriented.Experience with PSC-related matters is a strong plus; training will be provided.
