About The Position

Must-Have :

• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Experience floating to MedSurg and PCU Oncology units

Description :

Comprehensive Cancer Center

The unit has 318 acute care beds.

All inpatient units have 36 beds.

Units are specialized by cancer diagnosis.

Responsibilities include floating to MedSurg and PCU Oncology units.

Floating can include BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, and Colorectal Surgical Oncology.

There is a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls.

Staffing ratios in the PCU are 1 : 3 and can be 1 : 4 with mixed acuity.

For MedSurg Tele, staffing is ideally 1 : 4 but can be 1 : 5.

Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs.

There is no set or blocked scheduling available.

Staff will enter schedule requests for preferred scheduling before the final schedule is posted.

The first week of orientation includes day shifts.

Following that, there will be five shifts of bedside orientation between weeks two and three, leading to independent practice.

Interdisciplinary support is available, including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy.

Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics.

Required skills include :

Strict compliance deadlines are required for travel positions.

Candidates must complete necessary credentialing steps in a timely manner.

References are required from professional sources.

Candidates must possess a valid nursing license by the time of submission.

Education must be from an accredited nursing program.
