SUMMARY
The Event and Community Relations Manager plays a vital role in advancing UMMA Health's mission by strengthening relationships with community partners, local elected officials, and the public through strategic events and outreach. This position manages the planning, coordination, and execution of all internal and external events, supports marketing and public relations efforts, and helps drive patient and community engagement initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented relationship builder with strong event management skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep commitment to community health and equity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Key Responsibilities
Event Planning and Management
- Plan, organize, and execute internal events , including :
Staff trainings and development sessions
Annual staff holiday party and appreciation eventsNational Health Center Week activities and staff / patient engagement eventsManage external events such as :Health fairs and community outreach events
Partner-hosted events, press conferences, and community celebrationsDevelop and maintain detailed event timelines, budgets, and checklists.Coordinate staff assignments, volunteer participation, and logistics for each event.Oversee post-event evaluations and ensure continuous improvement for future programming.Write press releases and event impact stories as needed for public awareness.External and Community Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact for local elected officials' offices, community organizations, and clinic partners.Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders to enhance UMMA Health's visibility and reputation.Represent UMMA Health at community meetings and events as an ambassador for the organization.Coordinate and schedule meetings or site visits with partners, local government representatives, and community leaders.Outreach and Marketing Support
Manage and maintain all outreach materials and event supplies , ensuring adequate stock, organization, and timely reordering.Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to :Develop promotional materials and outreach strategies that increase patient engagement.
Support digital and print marketing campaigns tied to events and community initiatives.Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, media alerts, and event recaps .Track and analyze outreach outcomes to inform engagement strategy and patient growth goals.Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Work closely with clinic operations, communications, and development teams to align messaging and maximize event impact.Support organizational storytelling by identifying and sharing community success stories from events and partnerships.Assist leadership in identifying sponsorship or partnership opportunities that enhance UMMA Health's mission and reach.To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have :

Education :
Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, public health, or related field (or equivalent experience).Experience :
3-5 years of experience in event planning, community engagement, public relations, or external affairs.Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills.Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities; attention to detail is essential.Experience working with elected officials, government agencies, or community-based organizations preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic marketing or CRM tools (e.g., Canva, Constant Contact, Salesforce).Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred but not required.Passion for community health, equity, and social justice.Core Competencies
