Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of High School or Club Softball coaching experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Valid CA license (Class C) and current insurance coverage
- Safe driving record (will be asked to provide a DMV report)

CoachingPlan, organize, and direct the particular and assigned teamInstruct and demonstrate skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team developmentEnsure that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followedPlan, organize, advertise, and conduct tryouts for the particular sports program; inform the Athletic Department and participants of final selections. Maintain the integrity of the selection processConsult with the Athletic Director regarding off-season training programs including scheduling dates for summer camps / practices, uniform fitting, pre-post tryout informational parent meetingsCreate a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of studentsSupervise athletes at all times during practices, transport to games, games and until athletes have been picked up by guardians, or make arrangements to ride public transportationModel good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards the opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators and communityTraining
Complete required safety training for basic first aid and injury prevention available through SafeSchools and NFHS Learn, including, but not limited to :Annually - mandated reporter, bloodborne pathogens, concussion in sports, sudden cardiac arrest, heat illness preventionEvery Two Years - CPR and First AidAt time of hire - Fundamentals of Coaching or certificate of completion in a previous sports seasonPhysical, Mental and Environmental Demands
Physical : Ability to navigate office and school campuses, and hold meetings in different spaces. Sitting for much of the day. Ability to access and utilize technology. Occasional lifting / carrying of equipment 20-40 lbs.Mental : Ability to handle deadlines, analyze problems, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods, read, calculate, perform routine math, memorize and recall information.Environmental : Gym or field environment with participants and spectators. Frequent travel (50%-70%) to gyms and fields throughout the Bay Area. Location of gyms and fields in San Jose will vary. In emergencies, the season may be postponed or canceled. Adhere to KIPP health and safety guidelines as outlined by the CDC, CDE, and public health agencies.Classification
Seasonal, Part-time, non-exempt hourly position based on a school calendar and time-off schedule.

Compensation
$19 an hour for an expected 143 hour season.
