About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - ICU

Profession : RN (Registered Nurse)

Specialty : Intensive Care Unit

Duration : 17 weeks

Shift : 12-Hour Nights

Hours per Shift : 12 Hours

Experience : Minimum 2 years in ICU setting

License : Required

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS

Must-Have :

Strong background in cardiac procedures, including interventions from cardiac catheterization lab, STEMIs, and post-code patients.

Experience with patients post-interventional radiology procedures.

Comfort with critical care drips, balloon pumps, CRRT, and Eco patients.

Willingness to work without calling out.

Ability to float to any ICU units.

Minimally 2 years of experience with critical patients.

Description :

Candidates need to have a strong background in cardiac procedures.

Experience with interventions from the cath lab is essential.

Candidates should be comfortable managing STEMIs and post-code patients.

There may be patients post interventional radiology procedures in this role.

Medical and surgical ICU patients may also be placed in this unit when necessary.

Staff will be expected to float across different ICU units as needed.

The unit has a total of 38 beds.

Ratios are typically 2 : 1 but may vary to 3 : 1 on occasion.

The charge nurse and clinical supervisor are present 24 / 7.

Nurse aides and critical care technicians are assigned to assist.

There is a weekend requirement of every other weekend, with potential needs during the week.

Holidays are required during summer / spring and winter.

Scrub colors are designated as Caribbean blue.

Tele and monitor techs are not utilized in this unit.

Vents are commonly used, along with CPAP, BIPAP, and High Flow therapy.

Hospitalist or intensivist coverage is available in-house.

An IV team is present 24 / 7 and pharmacy services are available around the clock.

Shifts are 12 hours, typically from 6 : 45 PM to 6 : 45 AM.

Floating requires specific training based on unit needs.

Common diagnoses include critical care patients in surgical, cardiac, and medical ICU.

Candidates must adhere to a strict dress code regarding hair, nails, piercings, and tattoos.
