Location : Meriden, CT

Hours : 40 hours, M-F

Position Summary :

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our outpatient rehabilitation team, specializing in the evaluation and treatment of patients with Head and Neck Cancer . This role focuses on providing evidence-based care to individuals experiencing speech, voice, and swallowing difficulties due to cancer and its treatments, including surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. The ideal candidate will be passionate about oncology rehabilitation and committed to improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing function for patients with Head and Neck Cancer in an outpatient setting.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's medical history, cancer treatment stage, and functional goals.
• Provide therapeutic interventions for dysphagia, aphonia, dysarthria, and other communication disorders related to cancer and its treatment.
• Deliver pre-treatment education and counseling for patients undergoing radiation or surgical procedures, including total laryngectomy and tracheostomy.
• Conduct instrumental assessments such as FEES and videofluoroscopic swallow studies (VFSS) when appropriate.
• Collaborate with oncologists, otolaryngologists, dietitians, and other rehabilitation professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
• Educate patients and caregivers on safe swallowing techniques, voice restoration options (e.g., electrolarynx, voice prosthesis), and communication strategies.
• Document patient progress, treatment outcomes, and discharge planning in accordance with clinic protocols and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education related to oncology rehabilitation.
