Med / Surg Tele RN Job Details – Chesapeake, VA

Location : Chesapeake, VA 23320 (Virginia nursing jobs)

Healthcare Setting : 5 West – Med Surg / Renal / Diabetes Unit

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract with possible extension

Start Date : December 1, 2025

Shifts : Night shifts, 3x12-hour (19 : 00 – 07 : 30); option for 4x12-hour shifts (please indicate preference)

Hours per Week : 36 (option for 48 with 4x12s)

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1780 - $1910

Patient Ratio : 1 : 7

Patient Population : Adults and geriatrics

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (must be in hand at time of submission)

Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele RN experience

At least 2 years of previous travel nursing experience required

BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association required)

Proficiency with EPIC charting system (no exceptions)

Strong clinical skills in IV start, telemetry interpretation, and dysrhythmia management

Clean nursing license and background (no prior hits accepted)

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions allowed)

Must pass EKG testing (one attempt, 80% or higher required)

Med / Surg Tele RN Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric medical-surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring

Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, initiate and manage IVs, and administer blood products

Care for patients with CHF, COPD, diabetes, renal failure, post-cardiac procedures, and other complex conditions

Perform wound care, central line and PICC management, and tracheostomy care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services

Float to similar Med / Surg or Telemetry units as needed; work weekends and holidays per contract requirements

Utilize rapid response and code teams as appropriate

Document patient care accurately and efficiently using EPIC electronic health records
