Job Title : Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic - Lead
Location : New Orleans, LA
Job Type : Full-Time
Pay Range : $35.00 - $40.00 / hour (Depending on Experience)
Overview :
We are seeking a Maintenance Lead responsible for leading a maintenance team while actively performing repairs on heavy mobile equipment. Approximately 80% of the time will be hands-on, with 20% spent on administrative duties like scheduling, documentation, and vendor coordination. The Maintenance Lead will manage preventive and reactive maintenance tasks, prioritize based on operational needs, and ensure compliance with safety and ISO standards. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and experience with maintenance systems like Maximo.

Roles and Responsibilities :
Technical and Hands-On Duties (80%)
Perform diagnostics and repairs on forklifts, cranes, loaders, and other heavy mobile equipmentConduct preventive and corrective maintenanceUse electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics for troubleshootingInspect equipment for HSSE complianceDetermine in-house vs. third-party repair needsAdministrative and Leadership Duties (20%)
Assign and schedule tasks in CMMS (Maximo)Manage purchase orders, inventory, and partsProvide status updates to Asset Management and OperationsEnsure documentation and compliance reportingMentor and coach team membersManage communication between maintenance and operationsTrack KPIs such as equipment availability, PM compliance, and downtime reductionMaintain safety and ISO complianceQualification and Education Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalent requiredVocational / technical training preferred5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance; leadership preferredTechnical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systemsProficient in CMMS (Maximo preferred)OSHA 30 preferredWelding / forklift certifications a plusValid driver's license with clean recordWillingness to work flexible hours including weekends / on-callRequired Skills :
