JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provides primary mental health care services to adult patients 18 years and older and their families, emphasizing mental health promotion and disease prevention as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic mental health conditions
• Works autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and provide holistic health care
• Provides primary mental health care to patients 18 years and older in accordance with Chapter 441 of the Wisconsin Board of Nursing's nurse Practice Act
• Prescribes medications in accordance with Chapter 8 'Nurse Prescriber Prescriptive Authority Act' of the State of Wisconsin
• Works in close collaboration and consultation with psychiatrists on staff as a Nurse Prescriber
• Obtains health histories and performs basic neurological physical exam if necessary. Diagnoses and, in partnership with the patient, manages acute and chronic mental health conditions
• Provides comprehensive primary mental healthcare including the prescribing of psychoactive medications used to treat mental illness and emotional disorders as well as mental health therapy through evidence-based best practice modalities
• Teaches health promotion, wellness, and disease prevention
• Orders, conducts, and interprets diagnostic studies and laboratory tests within the scope of practice of psychiatric / mental health
• Prepares and maintains behavioral health patient reports and records
• Participates in the training of nursing students, nurse practitioners, medical students, and medical residents
• Serves as a consultation resource on mental health care to patients and their families as well as the clinic and the larger community
• Comply with the Sixteenth Street TB Control Plan including PPD testing
• Perform other duties as assigned
