Are you passionate about advocating for tenant rights, ensuring habitability standards, and navigating the complexities of residential and commercial law? If so, we are looking for an experienced Permanent Habitability Attorney to join our dynamic legal team. This exciting opportunity will enable you to leverage your skills and experience in a challenging and rewarding environment, where you will be instrumental in ensuring the fair and equitable treatment of tenants and landlords alike.
Responsibilities
As a Permanent Habitability Attorney, your primary responsibilities will include :
1. Representing tenants in disputes with landlords concerning habitability issues, including but not limited to, maintenance and repair disputes, rent increases, eviction proceedings, and lease terminations.
2. Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal laws regarding habitability, housing discrimination, and tenant rights.
3. Providing legal advice and representation to clients in both residential and commercial sectors on a variety of legal issues.
4. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating lease agreements, eviction notices, and other legal documents.
5. Conducting thorough legal research and analysis to support case preparation and court proceedings.
6. Collaborating with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the best possible outcomes for our clients.
7. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes in habitability laws and regulations.
8. Advocating for policy changes and reforms aimed at improving habitability standards and protecting tenant rights.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Permanent Habitability Attorney position will possess the following qualifications :
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in tenant law, residential law, and commercial law.
3. Must be a licensed attorney in good standing with the state bar.
4. Demonstrated experience in handling habitability cases, including lease negotiations, eviction proceedings, and habitability disputes.
5. Exceptional negotiation skills and a proven track record of successful dispute resolution.
6. Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex laws and regulations.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively advocate for clients in court and in written correspondence.
8. High ethical standards and professionalism, with a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality and upholding the principles of legal practice.
9. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment, while also being capable of working independently on cases.
10. Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
